LOVE love love me a good devotional and faith-based read. i mean, who doesn't, right?! i've received a few questions on my favorite faith-based blogs, apps, etc.. specifically for women, so i wanted to share what my go-to's are!

(CLICK ON THE TITLE TO VIEW SITE!)

FOR ALL:

  1. YOUVERSION BIBLE APP. the ENTIRE bible in ONE app! it's LEGIT. you can pick your version. from notes, bookmarks to a TON of plans + the opportunity to connect with friends, it's amazing.
  2. ELEVATION CHURCH.  they have an app too! http://elevationchurch.org/sermon-downloads/
  3. RELEVANT MAGAZINE. from faith + life to culture + current trends, relevant is one of my favorite online magazines!
  4. SPOTIFY. okay, not exactly a devotional..but the amount of incredible christian music (hello lecrae + hillsong united) is my go-to background music!

LADIES:

  1. PROVERBS 31 MINISTRIES. is a "non-denominational, non-profit Christian ministry that seeks to lead women into a personal relationship with Christ. "
  2. SHE READS TRUTH. "She Reads Truth started as a small group of strangers on the internet who wanted to be more intentional about reading God’s Word. What began as a casual conversation is now an entire community of women all over the world in pursuit of Jesus."

GENTLEMEN:

  1. HE READS TRUTH. "The He Reads Truth app is a tool designed to meet men where they are and encourage them to read God’s Word daily." I LOVE their purpose statement "o help men become who we were made to be, by doing what we were made to do, by the power and provision that God has given us to do it, for the glory of Jesus Christ."
  2. MANTURITY. "The goal of the site is to build more mature men spiritually and in their everyday circumstances."

PS-- if you get distracted easily, i suggest using THE BIBLE + notebook method. with Facebook, instagram, twitter apps easily accessible,  you may get distracted! if so, i suggest a devotional book.

LADIES, i 've purchased books + series from:

AMAZON // COMPARISON TRAP

another question i received is how to even begin reading the bible. honestly, there is no right or wrong way. it is the Book of LIFE, but here are some tips!

  1. FIND A PEACEFUL, QUIET SPACE. personally, i get distracted SO easily. i learned that coffee shops, busy areas, etc..are not ideal devotional spots for me.
  2. BE PREPARED. bible app? notes? devotional? pen? have everything ready to go.
  3. PRAY. i love to start out a good devotional and bible time with praying. i'm able to zone out of everything going on around me + focus on what God has in store for me.
  4. READ. i love to have a plan as to where i'm going in the word. sometimes i'll just open up to a book and begin to read, but being the planner that i am, i love to know ahead of time where my starting point will be.
  5. TAKE NOTES. i'm a huge note-taker. i love to highlight, take notes, save verses, etc..i love having this information to go back to.
  6. THINK + REFLECT. similar to the above, having notes gives you the opportunity to really dig deep into your heart + see how the Word is relating to what you have going on in life.  what is the Word saying? what does it mean to you?
  7. PRAYER + WORSHIP. i always end out my devotional listening to worship music + praying.
  8. LIVE IT OUT. most commonly ignored. it's easy for us all to read everything + even speak out faith, but are we walking it? are we living it out? God says that if we only read and speak the Word, we are deceiving ourselves.
  9. COMMUNITY. IRON SHARPENS IRON. I love sharing my devotionals with friends, family, social media followers, etc..Total goal one day is to be able to do all the above with my future hubby! There is so much fruit in being able to share devotions together.

all in all, devotional time is GOLD. look to it as a refresh, reset, restart..don't view it as homework or something you need to check off for the day. don't rush it, meditate on it. it should be the best escape where you purposely dedicate 1 on 1 time with God.

feel free to reach out to me if you have any more questions!
