I've been there. in our "work hard play hard" world, it's easy to get caught up in the idea of pushing yourself beyond exhaustion. when it comes to working out, it's important to have balance. there were times a few years ago where I was fully sucked into the overtraining trap. I was "stressed out" from my office job and still going through orthorexia (an obsession with eating foods that one considers healthy), so my idea of relieving anxiety was to workout..a LOT! i was using every cardio machine possible. don't get me wrong..working out is one of the best feelings ever and I love it, but life is truly about balance. it breaks my heart when I see others use it as a form of punishment. our bodies are amazing and are capable of doing great things, so we should be treating it right! sometimes we need to slow it down and allow ourselves to REST! this past year has allowed me to see the importance of incorporating rest days into a routine! especially since getting my CPT + becoming a flywheel sports instructor! • a few reasons why rest is important:
• your muscles GROW!
• overtraining can actually hinder your training + weight loss goals! yup, more exercise can cause a weight loss plateau. it will also increase your appetite, so you'll be hungrier more often!
• overtraining can cause EXHAUSTION!
• it can lead to burnout
• it eats up your free time!

again, I've been there..and it led me nowhere! so thankful that I have found balance + now know the importance of rest.

train hard + sweat, but take time to wind down + relax. your health is important! take care of it!
