I've been meaning to post this for a month now! I've had the amazing opportunity to partner with and learn about out some incredible companies geared towards all things mama to be (pregnancy), baby and kids. So excited to share what I've found! Each of these companies have a special story and mission, which is what stood out to me from the get-go.
Also, SUPER grateful for my experienced older sister who has been the biggest help. It's hard navigating ALL of the baby stuff out there -- especially as a first time mama! Hope you find this list helpful. I'm sure I'll be adding lots more as time goes on.
BABY CLOTHES & ACCESSORIES //
BABY GEAR & DECOR
SO excited for baby girl to be able to wear these items and for us to officially use all of these! :)
I can't believe this is my first blog post since my bachelorette recap. SO much has happened since. From an amazingly spontaneous Zoom wedding (thanks, COVID), to navigating the ups and downs of 2020 and miraculously being blessed with a baby girl-- 2020 and 2021 (thus far) has been the most amazing and wild ride...
I've been meaning to do a first trimester recap, so here we are..at almost 25 weeks and FINALLY getting to it. I guess I'll do a first trimester recap and chat about how second trimester has been going!
FIRST TRIMESTER //
I found out I was pregnant just after New Year's on 1/2! I waited one full day to tell Soheil (he found out on 1/3) -- I wanted to be 100% positive! New Year's Eve is when I really started to feel...let's say off. I had planned to drink champagne with my hubby as we rang in 2021 (our first New Years Eve married!), but suddenly had the strongest gut feeling not to drink. Weird, right? Next morning, woke up STARVING and my boobs were on FIRE. Like it was bad. I figured my period was on her way! Didn't think twice. Later that same morning, we were walking towards the beach where I suddenly felt lightheaded and dizzy. Again, I didn't think twice. Blamed it on the lack of sleep. Carried on. Let me back track a bit and say that at this point, I've had several moments in the past few months thinking I was pregnant, when in reality, my lady friend was just on her way..so, I didn't want to get my hopes up haha! Hubbs and I weren't trying to get pregnant, but we weren't "not trying" either..haha. Forward to Saturday AM. It was an early morning. I had just finished pilates and randomly felt the urge to take a test. The only test I had was the First Response lined test, so I took it. Immediately, two faint lines popped up and my heart started racing. I was putting that test under EVERY light possible, using my phone's flashlight, using the window, you name it (mama's, iykyk). Soheil was starting to wake up and I didn't want him to see the test (LOL), so I put it away and immediately ordered a digital clear blue through Target drive up. Later that day, while Soheil was working out, I went out to run some errands and got the test. You won't believe this, but I somehow managed to wait until the next morning. I was up early again, working out and during my leg workout, started to feel extremely tired and gassed. Not like me. I immediately grabbed the digital test and tested..Digital's take a bit longer and I was anxious, so I hid it for a few minutes. I go back..and all I see is POSITIVE. I began freaking out (quietly!). Soheil woke up about 30 minutes later. I had the test and a pair of baby bootie shoes hiding in our Christmas tree. At first, he didn't notice anything in the tree, so I had to say something annoying to get him to look. He saw it and his look was one of a kind. I'll never forget that moment. The most special. The day we found out we were going to be parents! I was about 3/4 weeks at the time we found out, so it was definitely really early on. Best day.
Weeks 3 + 4 - totally fine. I was on cloud 9. Had NO idea what was in store..lol.
Weeks 5-13 -
Week 14 came around and I was slowly starting to feel like myself again. Food aversions and the weird taste in my mouth stuck around, but honestly, I would've taken anything compared to the ongoing sickness. Have you ever woke up in the middle of the night nauseous? I wouldn't wish that upon anyone.
So beyond thankful for my husband, sister and mama for all of their support as I went through that first trimester period! It was tough because I wanted to be SO happy all the time and grateful for this gift from God, but the sickness was real and hard. I also didn't want to complain because I know some women have it much worse and end up hospitalized. It is just super important for me to write this because I know how when you're going through it, you are looking for others you can relate to. I looked up every blog post and youtube video so that I didn't feel alone.
SECOND TRIMESTER //
I'm soon to be 25 weeks along and am beyond grateful for the joys of second trimester. God is so good. Second trimester came with loads of energy and feel good vibes. I do have to say, baby girl is treating me very well this pregnancy and I don't have many symptoms to report...yet.
What I love most about second trimester so far -- Knowing we are having a baby girl! Prepping for all that's to come -- maternity shoot, 4D ultrasound, baby shower, baby moon..Feeling baby girl's kicks and punches (I first started to feel her at 19 weeks, but it was SO soft. I had an anterior placenta, which makes feeling those first kicks and movements a bit harder. I officially started to feel them get stronger around 22-23 weeks).
FIRST + SECOND TRIMESTER EXERCISE ROUTINE //
I've been blessed to be able to move my body all throughout this pregnancy so far. I have made some modifications, though! I workout 5 days a week and take 2 active (or not active) rest days. I have incorporated prenatal pilates and have continued to strength train. Biggest modification is not lifting too heavy -- focusing on more reps vs. heavy weights.
SECOND TRIMESTER NUTRITION //
I've continued to stay dairy and gluten free. My body just responds better! I have been intentional about incorporating specific food groups to match baby's growth and development week by week. Lots of healthy proteins, carbs and fats. Lots of vegetables (carrots, squash) and leafy greens. Lots of antioxidants. Omega 3's and 6's (I am allergic to seafood, so I've been getting these from healthy fats and nuts). Probiotics. All in all - my diet has stayed consistent. Definitely not opposed to treating myself ;).
I'm quite obsessed with this journey. All of it. Some days I still can't believe it.
There have been and are so many unknowns, but the growth has been a huge blessing. Fully giving all control to God and trusting Him has truly given us so much peace. I am so grateful to Him for all that He has blessed us with. Baby girl has already changed our lives for the better. From just having gotten my period (post HA) in September to falling pregnant in December, God never ceases to amaze us. His plans, His timing...MIRACLES ON MIRACLES.
Baby girl, we can't wait to meet you!
PS- Some of you mama's to be have asked to see my registry, here is the link. My sister (mama of 2 boys) helped me tons with it!
