With Valentine's Day right around the corner, the talk of romance, relationships + date night has pretty much been non-stop amongst my co-workers and a few friends. Rather than get emotional or annoyed about spending this "holiday" single, I am extremely excited to be hosting my first GALentine's day dinner with some close friends! Yup, GAL-entine's.
I truly believe that as single ladies, we have absolutely no reason to be sad! Our lives consist of the greatest romance story and involves a very special someone who wants our whole heart and wants us to be His forever. He longs for us to draw near to Him! We may feel unwanted and alone, but the truth is that we are continuously being pursued by our ultimate lover, Jesus.
God has a time and plan for everything and I am confident that one day I will celebrate this "holiday" with the right man. For now, I'm going to embrace my single-ness and seek after His heart. Nothing can compare to Jesus' love, affection and care for us and our hearts. He desires us. He wants us. He is for us.
I've been following Alyssa Joy's blog for a year or so now and if you haven't heard of her, I highly recommend checking out her website :) I recently read her book (co-written with Robin Joy Gunn) and fell in LOVE with it! I found myself relating to both of them in so many ways. The book is called Spoken For: Embracing Who You Are and Whose You Are.
"God’s word is His love letter to us. It’s beautiful, deep, scandalous, alive, wise and life changing. It’s radical- it flips our natural thinking on its head and radiates what is true and right and holy. It is a story of how the Creator of the Universe, the Maker of all things, the God of all gods, the King of all kings–wants us. It’s a story of how we were made in His image, for a deep relationship with Him, but we turned our backs on Him to go our own way. And yet, He came after us- again, and again, and again. He sent His only Son to be with us, to live among us, to die for us, and to rise again, so He can now offer us salvation and life forevermore with Him- just as He had originally designed it. It’s a story of how He alone is God, He his holy, & He is ever worthy; a story of His abundant love that never ceases and of His extravagant grace that He pours out on us. It will transform your life and lead you forward until we are reunited with Him forever. Sometimes, it may be dry, or unclear; maybe you don’t desire to read it or just don’t give it time. Me too. But I’m learning that when I ask Jesus to help me understand, to want to want to dig in and desire Him, or to help me prioritize Him in the midst of the crazy, that He is so faithful to answer and to stir in me an affection for Him and a delight for His word."
The ultimate love letter <3
PS- I'm currently reading "Lady in Waiting" as part of our devotional for Revive's new single ladies book club and LOVE it so far..planning to post more on that soon!
