growth is a beautiful thing.
SO--about two years ago, I wrote an article titled "Baby You Should Go & Love Yourself! Why Self-Love is Why Self Love is so Important To Your Fitness Journey.
You can read that here.
This is obviously still true, but I laughed at how fitness-specific it was. I recently felt called to write on this topic of self-love, and I'm referring back to this post because it is not only crucial to your fitness journey, but every single aspect of life as a whole.
It's funny--I'll sometimes go back and read old blog posts and realize how much has changed in my life for the better. Proof of God's goodness. This is one thing I love about writing. Clearly, I'm not the best, my grammar and punctuation are both horrible, but my heart behind it is genuine. Reading back through old posts really allows me to reflect on the amount of growth I've had [growth that could easily be missed because of life's busy-ness].
Growing up, I never felt that I was worth very much. Maybe you can relate. I struggled with the idea of accepting who I was, how I looked, etc...When I approached my early 20's and when my relationship with Christ was rebuilt, my heart began to change. That was when I began to understand what self-love meant, and when I understood who I was in Christ and that I was made perfectly imperfect in His eyes, I was able to see that we are called to live a life of freedom in Him. Freedom from self-doubt, insecurity, feeling worthless, etc..
Maybe you’ve had painful experiences in the past that left you feeling worthless. Maybe you feel worthless now, but God wants you to know you have incredible value. He gave His life so that you would!
Self-love is not only crucial to your health and wellness, it's not only important for your fitness goals, but it is important for your relationships and your spiritual health--it's important for it all. You deserve to feel confident and worthy.
“Are not two sparrows sold for a penny?” Jesus asked His disciples. “Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows” (Matthew 10:29-31, emphasis added).
You are worth more than your job.
You are worth more than the money in your bank account.
You are worth more than the number of followers you have on social media.
You are worth more than the number of events you have on your calendar.
You are worth more than your successes or failures.
You are worth more than your level of education.
You are worth more than your accomplishments or lack of them.
You are worth more than many sparrows.
Babe, you are worth more and you deserve to live a life of self-love.
